I would like to ask everyone to donate to the Rogersville 4th of July Event. They are really struggling to raise funds this year and with the economy we need this event more than ever. There will be even more families who can not afford a vacation or other fun day trips that they may have been able to take in the past. This event offers a much needed day of fun for the entire family without any financial stress on mom and dad. I know this event is the only thing that many of these kids will get to do for the entire summer so we need to make sure it is as spectacular as possible.

This event brings in around 20,000 people every year and we expect even more this year due to the fact that it falls on a weekend and due to the poor economy people will be looking for more free things to do this summer.

Each and every year the volunteer 4th of July Committee puts on an amazing FREE event. Everything is free with the exception of food. The parade is great the kids love it but the kids zone with all of the free inflatables, rock climbing wall, water wars, etc. is what really gets the kids excited. The city pool is also open to the public and free on that day. If you want to see a lot of really happy and excited kids spend a little time in the kids zone in Rogersville on the 4th of July. There is no way you can walkaway without a smile on your face.

The entertainment is fantastic and they always manage to get someone amazing for the finale. In the past they have had names such as Sawyer Brown, John Michael Montgomery, Brad Paisley, Diamond Rio and this year Joe Diffie is the headliner.

Volunteers are needed as well particularly the day of the event!

Please give what you can whether it is $5.00, $10.00 or volunteering the gift of your time. This is your chance to give back to your community and an opportunity to bring a lot of joy to a lot of families. It is not often that you will have a chance to see what a difference your donation can make but in this case you will be able to see it on the face of every child in attendance. There can be no better feeling. I believe this is why the 4th of July Committee and volunteers work so hard all year long. They must get such joy from watching the children and families enjoy the fruits of their labor.
