IRS: Personal Use of Your Company-Issued Mobile Phone is a Taxable "Fringe Benefit"

The IRS is looking for ways to tigthen its rules regarding your personal use of that company-issued cell phone, iPhone, BlackBerry, etc.

Increased FDIC Deposit Insurance Coverage Extended Through December 31, 2013

I recently wrote an article for the Knoxville Bar Association's monthly newsletter titled "Increased FDIC Deposit Insurance Coverage Set to Expire December 31, 2009."

Tennessee Legislation Aims to Provide Benefits to Start-Ups and Small Businesses

Legislation to establish "The Tennessee Small Business Investment Company Credit Act" ("TSBIA") overcame its first hurdle with passage by our State Senate Commerce Committee this week. The bill is an effort to provide benefits to small, medium-sized, and start-up businesses that do not enjoy the same economic development incentives that have been provided to the larger companies that invest capital in Tennessee.
