Profile Information

What do you do?: I work primarily as a software developer for the Agricultural Policy Analysis Center at the University of Tennessee. I'm currently in the process of finishing up a master's degree in geography focusing on geographical information systems development. I've also done a fair amount of work with Leonard at DBR Systems.

Where can we find you on the web?: http://bioflame.info/ contains some information about the master's thesis project I'm currently working on. I can be found on facebook.com and enjoy keeping an eye on various social bookmarking sites.

Who are you? Tell us a little about you...: I guess you could say I'm a strange hybrid that is part geek, part hippy, and part country boy. I'm a huge nature lover and try to spend a great deal of time outdoors hiking/backpacking, snowboarding, or gardening. My wife and I both work at UT and are involved in biofuels research. I've enjoyed computers and programming for most of my life; going back to the old TI-99/4A running BASIC. In recent years I've taken an interest in spatial analysis and trying to get the most out of GIS that I can.

I enjoy listening to and trying to play music ranging from rock and roll to bluegrass. There isn't as much time for festivals and concerts as there once was but we still try to get to a few a year. Rock Band for the XBOX 360 gets lots of play at our house as do a variety of other video games. When it comes to TV I generally prefer nerdy science documentaries. I'm interested in probably too many things really. There just isn't even close to enough time to do it all.
