Virtual Incubator (VI) Plan

1. Here's how this will work. An EOK member goes to the "Vet Your Business Page and fills out a questionnaire.

2. They receive an auto -responder sending them to a calendar webpage where they can schedule their 15 minute presentation. They also will receive some links to resources on how to prepare a great presentation. Once in the system, we will call them VI trainees.

[Forcing a trainee to prepare a presentation is excellent practice and a way for them to hone their idea. We will expect a certain level of preparedness and polish in the presentation. If it is lacking, we will terminate the presentation and ask them to reschedule when they are more ready.]

3. We will schedule 1 presentation (to start with) each Wednesday at 1 pm at the EOK place on Sherway Road. Following the presentation, the VI team will spend an hour discussing the business idea (without the trainee present). We will start a Google document for collaborative writing. Each VI team member will be responsible for making some recommendations, and adding them to the Google doc by Friday of that week. One team member will volunteer to be the trainee's mentor. The mentor will work with the trainee. The mentor will create a monthly report detailing the trainee's progress and submit it to everyone on the VI committee. If needed, the mentor can recommend that the trainee and VI committee meet together to provide further help.

VI committee members can schedule on the same calendar webpage that they are available to be a VI team member for a particular trainee. You can schedule as you have time available.

That's it.

Eventually, VI team members will be paid hourly for their time given during the presentation and subsequent discussion. Mentors will be paid a fixed monthly fee for helping their presenter.
