About the Welcomimg Committee

What does the Welcoming Committee do? Well, we welcome new members to EOK and make sure they get acclimated. We do this in a few ways.

1. We strive to post as many welcome comments as possible to each and every new member! We want every new member to know that we noticed them and that they are welcome. We also want to provide a quick suggestion of ways they could learn more about EOK.

2. We followup with inactive members to see if there is something they need. We do this via email, phone, text, etc. We just want them to know we're here and we care about them.

3. We try to attend as many EOK events as possible and physically greet members and welcome them to EOK. We also introduce members to other members to get them plugged in quicker.

David, there isn't a great way to see when a member signed up for EOK. Laurel can export a CSV file with lots of information about each member and it contains when then joined. You guys could use that file to do some research. Also, you may want to use that file to do some graphing of EOK's demographics... Leo

Leo, thanks for the kick in the pants. I need to get in a groove with welcoming and haven't done it yet.

Quick question. When I sort members by recently added, how can I identify how recently they've added? (This information is particularly important since I have been derelict in my duties.)

Make sure you're posting welcome messages to all of the new members. Introduce yourself as a member of the EOK welcoming committee and ask if the new member needs anything? Try to make some introductions with other members based on their profile answers. Also, please consider friending new members to help get them started. ~Leo

I'd like to start having monthly meetings. It would be great to take turns hosting lunch (pizza or sandwiches brought into the EOK office). Email me what times are good for you.
We could use a more automated system. The membership list is downloadable into csv or an excel spreadsheet. But we need a way to check off which members have been contacted and which ones need to be contacted.
What would work great if for every member that needs contacting that month, we create a single sheet with their contact information and a list of standard questions to ask. They are handed out to volunteers at the monthly lunch to contact. Then these sheets are turned in at the next monthly lunch. A point system, a contest, something fun to keep us motivated??
