Members Helping Members - Working, Sharing, Contributing

Let's build a local contract job posting/applying site for EOK. We can call it http://gigs.eokhq.com and make a little money in the process. This will be a for-profit model. We will charge local companies a nominal fee to post their contract jobs on the site. Members will not be charged to apply but non-members of EOK will be charged a fee or percentage of the job to apply.

I've started looking at some Open Source solutions and found a few. I think we can do this with a minimal amount of coding.

Anyone interested in helping with this? We'll need a programmer or two versed in PHP, MySQL, CSS, and a little java scripting. We'll need some Sales guys to make a few cold calls or presentations to local businesses informing them of the service. We'll need some marketing guys to build a marketing campaign to make gigs.eokhq.com the place to post your jobs in K'town. We need a couple of business types for due-diligence, business model, financial analysis, etc.

If you're interested, just post a comment explaining why and what you bring to the table. As soon as we have enough interest, we'll add this project to the private EOK project area and get the team rolling forward.

I'm in. I can provide some of the programming as well as hosting.
Cool. You should now have access to the eok project site http://eokhq.projectpath.com
I will be glad to help in any way that I can on the legal front.

Some initial thoughts and issues to consider:

1. Waiver and indemnity language to protect EOK is a must
2. Blind bidding vs. open bidding?
3. Maintaining anonymity of principal and/or contractor? (if requested)
4. Potential for abuse? (i.e., could it be used to advance fraudulent or deceptive business schemes)
5. Regulatory concerns regarding kickbacks or fee-splitting (i.e., are there types of contracts where EOK cannot charge a percentage)
Good point! I forgot about legal...we'll need help with everything you mentioned. Welcome to the team. I'll get you an invite to the project area.
very much - I've needed this service myself as I much prefer to local resources for contracts. I'm really good with css, can make the site pretty, and like sales. Sounds like mainly we need some marketing expertise. Shawn and Jeremy are you guys in?
I would like to help. I can type information into a jobs database or other structure stuff. You know my strengths. Just tell me how I can help.
You're already on the project site for this one. If you can't get access, let me know. http://eokhq.projectpath.com
Update: A team has been developed for this project and we are getting organized.
Leo - did this ever get off the ground?
Yes, sounds like it's going gangbusters! We need to get an update from the team back to EOK members. I received an update today that sounds like they are very close to launch. I'm ready to be their first client...I've really wanted a service like this for a while now.
Did anything happen on this? I wrote an application to do this, so I own all the source code, if its of interest.

Wally
I'm in the process of putting together screenshots of the system we've been working on. Once I get them together, we can share notes if the rest of the team agrees.
