What do local business do for IT? Which companies do they use? Are they happy? What do they charge? How quick are they to respond/resolve?

I handle it all personally.

So you are an IT? I saw your post about the Tech Support in Sequoya Hills...

Sorry for late response...

No, I'm not an IT guy. I was referring to my own stuff...I was constantly fixing stuff around the house/office. Then, I converted the troublemakers over to macs. Now, I spend much less time fixing computer related issues. Run VMWare Fusion if we need windows for something.

So nobody else on eokhq uses a computer? What are you guys doing all day, smashing rocks?

Maybe some folks have corporate IT department for their job, but I could have sworn this was an entrepreneur/small business group deal.

I use a guy who is self-employed, Pat Cannon. He's built all my computers and set up the network. He connects to my computers via logmein.com, so he can handle most issues without coming out. However, when he needs to come out, he's very prompt. He's very reasonably priced and very competent. The only problem is he doesn't do Macs, so I have another guy who does them for me.

Anyone who needs IT services like networking, telephone, PC fixes, I always recommend Jackie Crowell and his business corban inc. They work with big groups such as bush beans as well as smaller companies like myself. Besides the good service they office they are good people.

They bill average rates and they are very quick to respond. Even early and late in the evening.

Here is their contact

I though Bush had a staff of IT guys? A friend of mine works as in IT at Bush's beans...they have 500 units. Perhaps they outsource some of their needs to Jackie...

How many users? I also do the IT (for four users), and I find it terribly distracting. I contracted with Integracon in the past and found them to be very responsive and fairly affordable. I think that an outsource company, with certifications, is the right thing to do when there are enough users. In my experience, there are a bunch of people that can work on computers for an affordable rate, but they can get in over their heads frequently.

I know some companies use existing employees that may/may not have sufficient tech knowledge and experience. This can create some problems - not the least of which is that the employee has a hard time fulfilling their actual responsibilities.

*shameless plug* I am available for IT work, particularly for small companies that don't have the resources for a full-time staff. I am willing to negotiate a rate to make sure the customer/company gets what they need and I do too. At the moment my schedule is a little tight, but after Thanksgiving it will be more open, allowing for me to respond same-day or next-day.

My husband and I both own companies and we use a new company that has done incredible work, Omniconnection. Channing Burell is the owner. He is very prompt and professional but yet he's the kind of IT person you love having around beause he's pleasant, listens to you, and always dresses nice! He maintains our servers, after setting them up, lets us know when we need to order something and gives us a quote on it, tells us if its needed soon or is no rush, and is much less expensive than anyone else we've ever used. My husband was paying an IT company and had spend over $3000 on servers and other equipment but nothing was working right. He heard of Channing, called him to come take a look and had everything up and running smoothly in a few weeks. He has 10 employees and needed a lot of networking, backup, hosting, server, and database work. I think his fee was about $50 an hour but it may be $55. In any case, he is wonderful! His number is 865-748-1447. He is young but more impressive than anyone in many years of IT company dollars!

Yeah I think a young IT guy is the way to go! Lol, I like a snappy dresser too!

My reason for asking was to make my own services available. I'm young (thanks Donna!) and I have notable contracts with some big names in Knoxville. It would not be outside of my abilities to introduce people to my customer base, if there could be a possibility of a sale that would help my clientele.

I've been doing IT for 14 years and 4 of those have been running my own tech support business. I charge $60/hr, but I'm able to do a surprising amount of work from my office remotely, for which I only bill $30/hr. This offers quick support for computer users and lower IT admin costs for management. We build servers and workstations for businesses for WAY less than Dell (and I mean WAY), but we also support and maintain the computers you have in your office now. We do tune-ups to make your PC run faster without hardware upgrades, and we can also do hardware upgrades if you want increased performance/reliability.

This is indeed a shameless self-promotion, but as a small business owner member of this website, I think its appropriate. Which leads me to my next point: call me at
